The constant use and disposal of plastic is taking over our oceans, not only is it killing all the sea creatures but it is smothering all forms of growth at the bottom of our oceans.  This bill will benefit me tremendously because I care about what happens to the animals and our Environment. Those that do not must be held accountable and made to stop polluting by law. Gail Johnston, North Kingstown RI

South Carolina

It’s important for ALL marine life, and many other life forms, including us and our collective descendants.  It’s VERY HARD to fight this enormous problem, as Big Oil is banking on TRIPLING PLASTIC production during the next 30 years, because they know that the other main uses of fossil fuels will be steadily diminishing.  Stop increasing the MASSIVE PLASTIC POLLUTION DUMPING ON OUR PLANET! Rich Panter, Columbia SC

All the bags and bottles are wasteful and merely a deplorable convenience for humans who are careless about the planet.  All this stuff is made from petroleum which is destroying the environment in other ways as well, including causation of global warming.  I say phase it all out. Remember the convenience fondly if you’re inclined, but this cannot go on. It would save animals and give me a whole lot of peace of mind.  That’s enough.  Craig Hall, Greenville  SC

Plastic is killing everything not just wildlife and ocean life. It is killing us.  Florence Arnold, Kershaw SC

The Plastics Bill will reduce production, improve collection, better manage and recycle, tax single-use bags, and better label plastics. Please support this bill for cleaner neighborhoods.  Kathy Bradley, Lugoff SC

Because our lives and fellow creatures depend on it! A cleaner world benefits everything! Beverly Ammons, Moncks Corner SC

We need to stop endangering the life systems of the planet if there is to be a human future.  Plastic pollution is causing serious problems for life on this planet…in particular in the oceans…. We make plastic, and only we can stop doing so.  Please be instrumental in helping life to continue on this planet by supporting the Break Free from Plastics bill.  Jan Modjeski, Murrells Inlet SC

I hate to think I’m polluting the water, air and land I need, along with ALL of us to survive, be healthy, strong and productive!  We MUST recycle ALL plastics-they are made from oil and need to be treated for the value of the material. A network of shipping and trade from manufacturing/store, then back to reprocess, could be added to these plastic plants. Many opportunities for improvements! Less pollution means better health, longer life and more enjoyable future! Lisa Scharin, Ravenel SC

South Dakota

Plastic pollution is a permanent problem, not one we can ignore and hope it goes away. We need to revise our packaging toward renewables (I’m looking at you, glass!) and degradable options immediately.  Caitlin Kane, Dell Rapids SD

For the safety of our children’s future food, for the health of the sea animal population, and for the well-being of the whole earth, plastic pollution must be curtailed. This is of enormous importance. I care about healthy oceans and a sustainable environment. I want future generations to be able to enjoy the beauty of a healthy planet.  Erika Lehmann, Dimock  SD

Tennessee

We must protect our oceans as our human existence depends of this vast resource of food. Protecting the life in our oceans will save this important ecosystem. Let’s transition to alternatives to plastics. We have the technology. We need consumer choices to select non-plastic products. Berny Ilgner, Clinton TN

We have this beautiful planet that has everything we need on it. We can’t survive without clean water, land and air.  We must protect our resources at all costs. Pass the Plastics Bill. Teresa Lovino, GermantownTN

Plastic is probably the worse substance ever developed, the damage far outweighs the benefit. Our earth needs to be cleaner for every living being. Breaking free from plastic production will significantly reduce my worry for the future of my children and grandchildren. Patricia Dishman, Nashville TN

To keep from killing our water ways and oceans and life within and without. We need to recycle it as a community effort. It doesn’t work to make individuals responsible. Please support the Plastic Bill.  Betty Dudney, Nashville TN

We’re finding plastic in our drinking water and food, as well as the belly of animals like whales, fish, and birds. I think this bill will benefit every animal on the planet.  Jesse Gore, Nashville TN

We must stop polluting our oceans and lands with plastic, which kills wildlife and contributes to the deterioration of all life on earth. Pass this bill and I will feel much better leaving hope for my grandchildren. Karen Fletcher, Waynesboro TN
