Eco-Watch Lecture Series: Reducing Harmful Algal Blooms in Indian River Lagoon and Nantucket Sound

Date: Wednesday April 13

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Location:
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center 1801 North Ocean Boulevard Boca Raton, FL 33432

Rob will talk about how people are changing their lawn care practices to save coastal waterways from harmful algal blooms and beaches from being fouled by excessive seaweeds.  Palm Beach County is the only county of Indian River Lagoon that still permits fertilizing lawn between June 1 and September 30th.  Help rally residents to call on better stewardship of our waterways by adopting the lawn care practices of neighboring Martin County where the grass is just as green.  Spread in the fall, winter and spring.  Please not during the summer when day light the longest, waters the warmest and algae the blooming-est.
