The Ocean River Institute (ORI) has joined #Giving Tuesday, a global effort to bring individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits together to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Giving Tuesday 2014 was a great success for ORI, with many people giving to protect our oceans, and we hope you will help us do even better this year.
When you participate with us you’ll be helping to save striped bass from pollution, restore fish and fishing communities, and create a wondrous ocean place to protect essential fish habitats from oil, gas and mineral mining. Every dollar contributed helps ORI educate, engage, and give voice to people in our action campaigns.

#Giving Tuesday was established in 2012. The retail industry has long benefited from seasonal shopping that kicks off with “Black Friday”, later followed by “Small Business Saturday”, and “Cyber Monday”. #Giving Tuesday was created as a celebratory day to kick off the giving season, when many make their holiday and end-of-year charitable gifts. #Giving Tuesday inspires people to take action together to give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they champion.
