The Ocean River Institute has joined #Giving Tuesday, a global effort to bring individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits together to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
This year we’ll be upping our efforts to save our oceans and fish at the Ocean River Institute. We’re working to save fish by calling for more funding of the fishery councils so that they can better understand and manage all American fisheries. We want sustainable fisheries. We’re educating folks on how to eat fish sustainably. The Ocean ecosystems are changing, with a complex and interconnected environmental problems. We need to give more to restore and protect them. Join in the effort by donating to Ocean River Institute in the spirit of Giving Tuesday.
Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. Thanks to your giving in the past we now see an Indian River Lagoon that is beginning to recover, with all 5 Lagoon Counties committed to following our three-step solution to reduce nitrogen pollution. Here’s to more victories for our oceans in 2015!

About Giving Tuesday
#Giving Tuesday was established in 2012. The retail industry has long benefited from seasonal shopping that kicks off with “Black Friday”, later followed by “Small Business Saturday”, and “Cyber Monday”. #Giving Tuesday was created as a celebratory, fully connected day to kick off the giving season, when many make their holiday and end-of-year charitable gifts. #Giving Tuesday inspires people to take action together to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they celebrate and help create a better world.
Please spread the word to your friends on Facebook, followers on Twitter, and family. Encourage them to join with you by choosing the Ocean River Institute as one of their charities to support.
