This week’s program with Rob Moir on Women’s Radio Network, hosted by K.C. Armstrong, features information all about Stellwagen Bank and the creatures that call the area home. The bank is part of a National Marine Sanctuary that was started by fishermen to protect the groundfish habitats of the area: gravel, sandy, muddy, boulder reefs. Rob chooses a featured creature from each bottom type – haddock, Acadian redfish, goosefish, and wolfish – and goes into detail about its physiology, biology, and history. He finishes by urging listeners to support the important causes to protect these fish by donating to the Ocean River Institute and staying informed.
